Here is a very rare copy of a small book (11.5 x 8 cm) by Bernardin de St Pierre (1737-1814).
Published in 1788 , Paul and Virginia, evokes feelings of love and depicts the melancholy arising from lost paradises. Inspired by his disappointed loves, the author describes a pessimistic view of existence. A follower of Rousseau, Bernardin de St Pierre attaches himself in this novel to the description of an idyllic society.
