This first part of the lunar adventure is the 16th album in the TINTIN series.
HERGÉ drew his inspiration for the lunar adventure from WERNER VON BRAUN's programs on the V2 and the research of HERMANN OBERTH who was a technical advisor for FRITZ LANG's film "WOMAN IN THE MOON" (1929), whose script, sets and technological feats are found almost completely in DESTINATION MOON and EXPLORERS ON THE MOON.
HERGÉ also consulted "L'homme parmi les étoiles" by Bernard Heuvelmans and "L'astronautique" by Alexandre Ananoff.
