The master mat and copper metal frame are in good condition.
The signature appears to be printed and the information is on paper glued to the back of the work.

Peter Markgraf, (1924-2008) artist of German origin immigrated with his wife Trauld to Canada in the mid-fifties. Peter and Traudl studied art in Munich and met at art school. After the war, they became pacifists and left Germany in 1957 when the German government reintroduced the military project.
In this post-war period, the prism of modernism was focused, in terms of international attention. The Second World War brought many important artists into exile from Europe, which led to a significant pooling of talents and ideas. The Markgrafs have participated in several reproduction programs to promote Canadian art. They have developed a screen printing process recognized for its print quality and fidelity to the original painting, they have not only mastered the techniques of print manufacturing, but they have been the pioneers Their work has earned them an international reputation.
In 1977, they sold their home in Hudson, Quebec, bought a truck and a large trailer, and spent the summer crossing the country, admiring the scenery and planning a series of editions about Canada.They moved to the Sunshine Coast and worked for Bill Ellis, publisher of Canadian Native Prints Ltd. They had their first opening. Almost all available prints are sold out within a few days In their new studio overlooking the sea and Texada Island, they have begun printing their series of Canadian landscapes. As in "Prairie Sky", their landscapes were still abstract. They printed ten editions of scenes from across Canada, inspired by their journey.
They continued to print for individual artists and, after 1978, created their own silkscreen prints of West Coast landscapes.
They eventually returned to live in Hudson during their retirement as two of the most successful Canadian artists of all time, but they were unique in another way. They have always worked as a couple. In the legacy of a time when women artists were rare, their work is still sometimes attributed to Peter Markgraf, but in most cases, including the World Exhibitions of the Department of Foreign Affairs Canada, their work is now correctly attributed to Peter and Traudl Markgraf.
